How To Nominate For QFEA 2027

Founded in 2000 as the Queensland Filipino Women’s Achievement Award (QFWAA) by former Philippine Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Delia Domingo-Albert, the awards evolved into the Queensland Filipino Excellence Awards (QFEA), continuing its mission to recognise the achievements, leadership, and contributions of outstanding Filipinos, honour legacy, and advance the Queensland Filipino community.

Nomination and Evaluation Criteria

  • Their significant contribution to their field
  • Demonstrating methodological rigor and originality, effectively communicating their research or innovation, with strong potential for practical applications or further development, among other qualities
  • Demonstrating the highest standards of business leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation
  • Demonstrating excellence in the artistic, cultural or sporting field and their proven impact on these sectors
  • Excellence in community service, demonstrating creativity, innovation, and a positive impact on the community, while exhibiting ethical conduct and promoting social justice, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrating leadership skills, leadership practices, effective communication and engagement with stakeholders as a young leader

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to receive a Queensland Filipino Excellence Award the nominee MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Queensland resident for at least five (5) years. Applicants may be asked to provide evidence of Queensland residency during the nomination review or judging process.
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Applicants may be asked to provide documentary evidence of their citizenship or permanent residency should they progress to the next stage of the nomination or judging process.
  • Be of Filipino heritage. The nominee must be of Filipino descent, including first-, second-, or subsequent-generation Filipino Australians. Applicants may be asked to provide supporting documentation or a statutory declaration if required during the nomination review or judging process.
  • Be 18 years of age or older, except for the Young Leader of the Year Award, which is open to nominees aged 18 to 30 years.
  • The nominator must verify that all information provided in the nomination is true, accurate, and complete.
  • All nominees agree that their name, photograph, and information relating to their nomination may be used in promotional and publicity activities conducted by the Queensland Filipino Excellence Awards Inc.
  • Family members may nominate a nominee; however, family members of either the nominee or the nominator cannot act as referees.
  • Task Force, Working Committee members, judges, and any person directly involved in the administration or judging of the Awards, including their immediate family members, are ineligible to nominate or be nominated.
  • Previous recipients of a Queensland Filipino Women’s Achievement Award (QFWAA) or Queensland Filipino Excellence Award (QFEA) as a main award recipient are not eligible to apply for or receive another main QFEA award.

Recognises leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, industry impact, responsible practice, partnerships, performance and sustained contribution.
3. Excellence in Arts, Culture, Sports & Entertainment
Recognises excellence, creativity, audience engagement, sustained contribution, partnerships, positive social impact and ethical conduct.
4. Excellence in Community Service
Recognises commitment, community impact, innovation, engagement, sustained service, collaboration, inclusion and ethical conduct.
5. Young Leader of the Year
Recognises young leaders who demonstrate leadership, innovation, engagement, collaboration, positive impact, ethical conduct and the capacity to inspire future generations.
